Welcome to the Minnesota Wing of Van's Air Force
The Twin Cities RV Builder's Group
The Minnesota Wing of Van's Air Force first met in 1988 as a group of 20 local RV builders from the
Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Prompted by the enthusiasm of Jerry Van Grunsven and other early RV-3 and RV-4
builders, the group soon grew to its present membership of nearly 250 RV builders, pilots, and "wannabes".
Today, we are one of the largest RV builder's groups with over 60 completed RV aircraft and around 140 under construction in the upper Midwest area. We generally meet every other month at builder's homes or other locations to examine their projects, discuss and answer questions, and socialize among a great group of RV folks. Each quarter we publish a newsletter, The RVator's Log, which keeps our membership up to date on the latest local RV news as well as builder's tips and hints. The Minnesota Wing organizes a fall Fly-In and Camp-out at a grass airstrip near Osceola, Wisconsin. This is our family get-together on a 4000 foot grass runway with lots of good eating, beautiful RVs to peruse and guaranteed beautiful weather!! Among our membership is a wealth of expertise including several RV technical counselors, an avionics counselor, and several experienced RV pilots available to provide orientation flights in their respective RVs. We have several flight instructors that can provide transition training as well. Building and flying an RV sport aircraft is a challenging yet rewarding experience. The Minnesota Wing provides a ready source of guidance with our enthusiastic membership, the RV Forum, The Rvator's Log, and fun and informative meetings.
