N214FF took 2 years, 2 months and 10 days to complete, which is about 2000 hrs of building time, as advertised. Another couple of hundred hours was spent on research and shop prep time. The aircraft is a basic Van's model, with a few added attractions. The engine is a Lycoming (Aero Sport) O360-BIA-168 hp (7.2 pistons for auto gas) with Lasar Electronic Ignition and a Hartzell constant speed prop.
A full panel was installed, 360 acrobatic attitude indicator, and the old style needle ball turn indicator, installed in the center of the aircraft, for partial panel spin recovery procedures. Garmin Transponder and the 300XL GPS are installed. The VM1OOO Electronic Powerplant Instrumentation system is installed, and required to save space and replaces 9 instruments. Tom has been extremely satisfied with this presentation.
