Robert Thomson, International Falls, MN, RV-6A
My RV-6A project was started in September of 1996. After three winters of work, the first flight was May 2, 1999. Although sometimes challenging, I enjoyed the building process and am now building a Skyraider II.
The RV-6A has an 0-320, 160 hp Aero Sport engine from British Columbia. I installed a Garmin 250XL GPS/comm, Garmin transponder, full gyros, and an S-Tec autopilot.
It is a great airplane. I have enjoyed several trips; west to the Rockies, northern Alberta, Texas, southern Ontario, Oshkosh and many short trips for brunch and shopping.
I can remember thinking I would never get this finished, but now I have over 300 hours on it. For those still working, keep at it, you will get there and it will be immensely satisfying.
