First Flight - John Link, Sioux City, IA
May 15, 2002
RV-8, kit # 81462 flew for the first time on 5/15 with test pilot Tom Irlbeck at the controls. It has one of the new XP-360 kits from Superior that I assembled. I used a Lycoming 200 h.p. sump and was able to use a Bendix fuel injection and the snorkel/smooth cowl of the angle valve engine. Ready to fly weight including paint, wheel pants, etc. was 1112 lbs. Equipment includes a Garmin 430 and 327 transponder, Tru-Trak autopilot, Hartzell prop, Lasar ignition, and the new aluminum gear from Grove Aircraft that they machine to an airfoil shape. If you are in Sioux City, IA stop by and say hi.
