Moving Day - October 10, 2002

(Page down below for the latest update!!)
After almost 12 years on the property, it was finally time to move the RV-4 project to my hangar. Certain friends who shall remain nameless kid me that when I finally fly 22DW to its first Oshkosh convention, I can proceed directly to the antique aircraft parking area.
Regardless, the wings were moved the previous day thanks to John Tangen and his snowmobile trailer. Tom Irlbeck arrived on Thursday, October 10 with his super-sized aircraft moving trailer designed to transport anything up to a DC-9 (or so it seemed).
Here's N722DW emerging from the garage/shop ready to hit the road.
Tom Irlbeck and his green monster
A perfect fit!! (the dumpster was there in case the fuselage slid off!!!.. just kidding... kitchen project underway).
A safe arrival at Lake Elmo
So here's the RV fleet at the moment. Note the taller landing gear on 22DW.
Now to really get to work........................

Update June 2003
After only 12 years of work, N722DW is ready to fly. Right now I am just waiting the FAA inspection. All engine runs have been made and I have a little over one one of ground run and taxi time on the airplane. Here's some of the latest photos:
Setting the wing sweep prior to drilling the rear spar
Weight and balance time
Final empty weight: 1036 pounds
Cowling, fairings, and wheel pants on.
First engine start
It's running, it's running!!!!
